A control device for the butterfly valve of a valve connection piece, attached to the suction pipe of an internal combustion engine, or a carburettor has in the direction of its axis (13) a vacuum cell (26) with attached control rod (36) and, in the vacuum-cell wall on the diaphragm-space side, a valve housing (5) with valve seat (7) and valve body (8) which can be controlled via a tie rod (16) by means of a solenoid valve (12). When the valve (7, 8) is in the open position, the vacuum applied to the vacuum cell (26) via a connection pipe cannot have an effect, since the inner space of the vacuum cell (26) is constantly vented via the valve passage (6) and transverse bores (9) in the valve housing (5). When the valve is closed, applied vacuum can build up suddenly and actuate the vacuum cell (26) so that the control rod (36) can perform a control movement. Opening of the valve permits sudden return of the control rod (36) under the effect of the diaphragm spring (38). <IMAGE>
