PURPOSE:To produce a wax pattern for precision casting which decreases surface shrinkage and torsional deformation by allowing unsolidified wax to flow to the outside of the cavity of a metal mold after the molten wax charged into the cavity solidifies near the inside surface of the metal mold. CONSTITUTION:Molten wax 3 is charged into the cavity of a metal mold 1 through a wax packing port 2 by a method such as dropping by gravity. Refrigerant liquid such as liquid nitrogen or cold water is passed through the fluid flow passages 5 provided in the mold 1 to cool the mold 1, whereby the wax 3 near the inside surface of the mold 1 is solidified. When the thickness of the solidified wax layer 4 is preferably about 2-5mm., the unsolidified wax in the cavity is allowed to flow out. In succession, the mold 1 is opened and the wax pattern is removed. At the time when the plastic deformation of the layer 4 is possible after the outflow of the unsolidified wax, fluid such as gas of 0.2-10kg/ cm<2> is forced into the cavity, whereby the more precise wax pattern is obtained. |
