PURPOSE:To execute a continuous operation stably, by providing a caterpillar draw gear whose linear velocity is finely adjusted by an intermediate dancer roll of a specified linear velocity, on a line, in a method for reducing a diameter plural times as to a metallic pipe for holding a filament body in its inside. CONSTITUTION:A metallic tape 3 from a reel 4 is formed like a pipe by wrapping a filament body 1 from a reel 2, is welded by a torch 7, is formed to a metallic pipe, its diameter is reduced by diameter reducing devices 8, 8', and it is wound around a drum 11. In this case, just behind the torch 7 and the devices 8, 8; caterpiller draw gears 10, 10' and 10'' are provided, and among them, dancer rolls 18, 18' are provided. Adjustment is executed in advance so that a linear velocity signal of the device 10 is indicated to the device 10' and that of the device 10' is indicated to the device 10'', and a linear velocity Vn of each device is set in accordance with the equation (Sn-1 and Sn are sectional areas of the metallic pipe before and after reduction of the diameter by the device concerned). At the same time, the rolls 18, 18' adjust tension of the metallic pipe, give a signal to said draw gear which follows, and finely adjust the linear velocity. |
