A water de-ioniser comprising a cation column 1 and anion column 2 is regenerated by using de-ionised water for the anion column. The de- ionised water is obtained from interconnected reservoir tanks 3 in which the columns are accommodated and which are filled through a conduit 6 controlled by a float valve 7. Raw water from 8 passes first to strong cation exchanger 1 via 10, then via 11 and valves 12, 13, and conduit 16 to strong anion exchanger 2, then via 17 and quality indicator 19 to 21 and for use, as deionised water. Vessels 22 and 23 contain respectively acid and alkali, e.g. HCl and NaOH, for regeneration. <IMAGE> |
