<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of hot spots in active carbon by decreasing the layer height of the active carbon in the mid-way of a stage for cooling the active carbon after desorption by heating with a gas contg. virtually no O2 and cooling the active carbon again. CONSTITUTION:Many active carbon charging cylinders 5 which are disposed in an annular shape in a rotary cage are rotated and moved intermittently, whereby cycles of adsorbing, preheating, desorbing by heating, precooling, cooling, (charging and packing) and adsorbing are repeated. In the preheating and desorbing zones, active carbon (a) is packed higher than the upper parts of louvers 3, 4 to a level A, but in the precooling zone, the active carbon in the charging cylinders 5 is slightly discharged from the hopper on the lower side in the mid-way of the precooling to decrease the upper part of the active carbon (a) layer down to the level B, whereby the active carbon is cooled again. Then, the upper part of the active carbon (a) layer is thoroughly cooled, and the generation of hot spots in succeeding strokes is prevented.</p> |
