PURPOSE:To cast a thin metallic sheet easily and stably by forming a casting mold of a recessed shape in cross sectional shape having cooling means into an endless track shape. CONSTITUTION:A dummy bar is beforehand inserted into a casting mold and molten metal 12 is charged into a nozzle 11. The charged molten metal 12' encloses the dummy bar therein; at the same time, said metal is deprived of heat through a bottom casting mold 15 and side casting molds 16, and solidifies. In the stage, when the molten metal 12' is filled in the casting mold, pinch rolls 21 are operated to draw the dummy bar; at the same time, pulleys 17a, 17b are driven to move the mold 15 and the molds 16 and the dummy bar at the same speed, whereby a solidified ingot 14 is drawn and a thin metallic sheet is obtained. During this time, gaseous Ar is run in a space 23 in order to prevent oxidation of the molten metal 12' and compressed air or the like is blown through a cooling pipe 20 in order to reduce the temp. of the solidified ingot 14. |
