PURPOSE:To nearly equalize the bending characteristics, lateral pressure characteristics, transmission characteristics, etc. of each optical fiber strand, by constituting so that thickness of a tape edge layer part of a plastic covering of an optical tape core is made thinner than thickness of a tapered surface layer part. CONSTITUTION:Plural optical fiber strands 1 are provided in one row laterally, each fiber strand has a structure which has been provided with a protecting layer 1B on the outside circumference of an optical fiber 1A, and onto the outside circumference of an array assembly body of the optical fiber strand, a plastic covering 2 consisting of nylon, etc. is placed, and the external form is like a thin tape. Thickness t'' of a tape surface layer part 2B of the covering 2 is set to the minimum thickness of such an extent as the outside surface becomes flat, and thickness t' of a tape edge layer part 2A is selected to thickness which is thinner than the thickness t''. According to such a constitution, various characteristics of the optical fiber strand of both ends become nearly equal to those of the intermediate strand. |
