PURPOSE:To check the presence or absence of a fault immediately after the writing is over to a magnetic tape, by comparing the data block count value measured during a writing operation with that measured during a rewinding operation. CONSTITUTION:The data block count value in the data block which is held at a storage circuit during a writing operation and that measured actually during a rewinding operation are fed to a comparator 8 in the form of output signals BC and DC of the circuit 7 and a counter circuit 6 respectively. Then a comparison is carried out between both above-mentioned count values. When the coincidence is obtained between these values, a normal writing operation is decided. While if no coincidence is obtained, it is decided that the written data block value has some fault. Then this fault is reported to a processor 1 as soon as the rewinding operation is over. Thus a rewinding instruction is finished. In such a way, the presence or absence of a fault can be checked immediately after the writing is over to a magnetic tape. |
