PHOSPHONIUM SALTS OF N-PHOSPHONOMETHYLGLYCINE AND THEIR USE AS HERBICIDES AND PLANT GROWTH REGULANTS Abstact of the Disclosure Novel phosphonium salts of N-phosphonomethylglycine are disclosed herein, having the formula in which R1, R2, R3, and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C10 alkyl, benzyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl and substituted benzyl wherein said substituents are independently selected from halogen, lower alkoxy, and lower alkyl. The compounds are useful as herbicides and plant growth regulants.
