<p>The (hydraulic) piston-cylinder unit (1) comprises a cylinder (2) containing a piston (3) which defines a chamber (4) between itself and one end cover (25) of the cylinder with a connection (5) for inlet and outlet of a pressure medium. The piston (3) is hollow and acts as cylinder (19) for an internal piston (18) fixed to the end cover (25) by a piston rod (6) which sealingly passes through a bore (7) in the piston (18) bottom (20,21) and is fixed to the end cover (25). The piston (18) divides the cylinder (19) into two chambers (8,9) with respective connections (10,11) for inlet and outlet of pressure medium. The arrangement permits producing a greater force on the piston (3) for a given hydraulic pressure and rapid return action.</p> |
