PURPOSE:To enhance the hardness of a material for the valves and valve sheets of an internal combustion engine at high temp., the thermal impact resistance and the resistance to corrosion due to lead oxide by using an Fe-Ni-Cr alloy having a specified composition as the material. CONSTITUTION:The valves and valve sheets of an internal combustion engine are manufactured with an Fe-Ni-Cr alloy contg. 0.55-1.90% C, 0.1-3.0% Si, 0.1-2.0% Mn, 28-37% Cr, 25-49% Ni, 1-8% Co, 0.5-15.0% W, 0.5-9.0% Mo, 0.1-3.5% Ti and 0.1-3.5% Al. Products with superior hardness at high temp., thermal impact resistance and resistance to corrosion due to lead oxide are obtd. When the hardness at high temp., that is, the wear resistance is especially required, 0.01-1.5% Nb is added, and when it is necessary to further enhance said characteristics, 0.01-1.5% B is added. |
