In a plate-like filter element 10 comprising a porous middle layer 11 and two gas-tight cover layers 12, these cover layers are held pressed tight against the middle layer by means of transverse connecting cords 13. When the plate-like element, for example, is used as filter for a gas-discharge opening in a stoma bandage 14, the porous middle layer 11 contains a large quantity of finely granulated active carbon. The connecting cords 13 hold the cover layers 12 pressed against the middle layer 11 such that channels are prevented from forming between the cover layers and the middle layer and a tendency for the middle layer to delaminate is eliminated. <IMAGE>
