<p>The automobile engine mounting uses a specifically contoured elastomere block (5), to transmit engine vibrations to the chassis. It may comprise concentric sleeves (4,7) with elastomeric material filling the annular void, using holes (3) in cantilever brackets (2) to bolt sleeves (4) to the chassis. The other sleeve (7) is used for bolting to the engine. The elastomeric block includes axial openings (8) which are curved in plan, the concave sides of the openings facing a sleeve. Two such openings may be used straddling the common sleeve dia. through the bracket holes. The unit is symmetrical about the dia. Alternatively the axial openings may have a 'W' shape or a shape compounded of three alternately inversed circular arcs.</p> |
