This invention relates to a process for producing substituted pyrroles, especially pyrrole-2-acetic acids and compounds deriving therefrom. In particular, the process according to this invention relates to processes for obtaining 1,4-di lower alkyl-3-lower alkoxy carbonyl- pyrrole-2-acetate which is a useful intermediate for analgesic and anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical compounds.
