PURPOSE:To microminiaturize a rotary drive device by composing of the first peiezoelectric member telescopic in a circumferential direction and fixed at one end and the second piezoelectric member telescopic in a direction for holding the rotational shaft and provided at the other end. CONSTITUTION:A rotational shaft 2 is disposed via a bearing 2 in a cylindrical case 1, a telescopic member 4 formed of a piezoelectric material is circmuferentially telescopically mounted on the mounting base 3 of the inner wall of the case 1, and a clutch made of a telescopic material 5 made of the same piezoelectric material and telescoping in the direction for holding the shaft 2 is provided. A voltage is selectively applied from power sources 7, 10 to an electrode 6 which is coated on both sides of the materials 4, 5. Accordingly, the rotating motion of the shaft 2 and holding can be repeated by the telescopic motion of the piezoelectric materials, thereby performing the fine rotating motion and reducing the rotary drive device in extremely samll size. |
