PURPOSE:To prevent hydrogen gas from reaching an exhaust valve by using currents generated by a pair of suction valves to hinder the stream of the hydrogen gas. CONSTITUTION:Each suction passage 6 is formed to be slanted and mutually opposed, and opposig currents PF toward a center line O is generated to flow downward after crushing. When a piston P reaches the bottom dead point to enter a compression stroke, a suction valve is closed. At the beginning of the compression stroke, a hydrogen gas supply valve 4 is opened. Then, hydrogen gas is sucked into a combustion chamber 7. A part PF among suction currents P1 shields an exhaust valve 3 and the hydrogen gas supply valve 4, and partially remained even when the hydrogen gas supply valve 4 is opened. A current P3 among taken-in hydrogen gas currents P2 toward the exhaust valve 3 is prevented by the current PF from flowing toward the exhaust valve 3. |
