PURPOSE:To prevent the crease or wrinkle generation of a cation exchange membrane during electrolysis, by a method wherein said cation exchange membrane is preliminarily subjected to swelling treatment due to an aqueous solution and the treated membrane is fixed or fixed prior to use. CONSTITUTION:At first, a cation exchange membrane is swollen by immersing the same in pure water, a saline solution or an org. solvent. On the other hand, two window frame shaped metal molds with predetermined sizes comprising a strong material such as a metal are fabricated and two gaskets are put between them. In the next step, the membrane subjected to swelling treatment is put between the gaskets and fixed by clamping the same by C clamp. The drying of the membrane is carried out by standing the membrane in the atmosphere for 1hr or more in a state fixed to the metal molds. If thus treated cation exchange membrane is bonded to a synthetic resin film by heat welding, the part other than a current passing part can be formed from an inexpensive material. |
