The discharge lamp (1) has a shape in cross-section of an equilateral triangle with rounded edges and a contact (3) is arranged at each end of the discharge lamp (1) on at least one of the roundings (4) of the triangle. Provided as a mount for respectively one end of the discharge lamp (1) are, at the closed end, a holder (16), a contact block (17) and, at the open end, two movable support faces (14) which are suited for snap fitting. The discharge lamp (1) is provided for cold starting, so that it is also necessary for the mount to be designed appropriately for connection with a single conductor. The object of this invention is to provide a better system, to move ahead technically in accord with advances, and in addition to much better properties to save energy on a broad base. This invention clearly belongs to the sphere of lighting engineering and its aim is to minimise the proportion of glare. <IMAGE>
