The apparatus for the production of glass articles comprises a glass-shaping machine (31) and a distributor (32) for distributing viscous glass drops onto the individual glass-shaping stations of the machine. The drop distributor is driven by an electrical motor (34), which is connected to an electrical energy source (36). A machine control circuit (38) which reacts to clock pulse signals controls the glass-shaping stations, so that the latter shape the resultant glass drops in a sequence of working steps to give the desired glass articles. The clock pulse signals are generated by the source (36) at a frequency which is proportional to the frequency of the alternating current driving the motor (34). Each glass article is produced during a machine cycle given by 360 DEG , whose duration depends on the speed of distribution of the glass drops. The alternating current source (36) comprises a clock pulse generator, which provides clock pulses for defining 360 DEG per machine cycle. The pulse frequency of the clock pulses depends on the frequency of the alternating current sent to the motor (34). <IMAGE>
