<p>PURPOSE:To effectively burn and remove combustible fine particles filtered while keeping the filter performance high by a method in which electricity is supplied to the filter formed of a porous and conductive ceramic material for energization. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas containing carbon fine particles from engine is flowed to the entrance pathway of a filter device 10 for removing fine particles from an ascending flow direction F through an exhaust mainfold and connecting pipe 16. Then, the exhaust gas passes through a filtering wall 7 and then is discharged through an outlet pathway 2 and an outlet 4 to the outside of the device 10 and directed to the direction B of an exhaust pipe in the downstream. When electricity is supplied between both electrodes 8 and 9, the filter device 10 is energized, and carbon fine particles are heated to its ignition temperature, the carbon is burned out and the blinding of the filter due to the adherence and deposition of carbon can thus be completely prevented.</p> |
