Lance for taking samples from metal melts for examination by spectral analysis

Metal samples for examination by spectral analysis are taken from molten metals by means of a lance in such a way that a sample carrier with a plurality of through-bores is arranged in the lance end section immersed into the melt. During the immersion, melt flows into the bores, in whose regions the samples are formed. The sample carrier is positioned in a spectrograph. The samples are examined by spectral analysis; if the measured values of one sample deviate from those of the other samples, they are discarded. Repeated sampling from the melt is no longer necessary.
