A mount is specified which is suitable in particular in automotive engineering for a vibration-insulating support of the engine on the chassis or the bodywork of a motor vehicle. The mount comprises, in mechanical series and/or parallel connection, an insulating element, which displays a rubber-elastic dynamic behaviour, and a damping element, which has a high damping in the frequency range of the mass system of the mount. In the case of a parallel connection of insulating element and damping element, the latter preferably consists of a material which is plastic in the static state and at low vibration frequencies and the glass transition process of which does not perceptibly occur until frequencies which are higher than 20 kHz. In the case of the mechanical series connection of insulating element and damping element, for the latter a material is used, for example polyisobutylene, of which the glass transition process is already in effect in the frequency range of the natural vibration of the mass system of the mount and imparts the desired damping.
