PURPOSE:An anticancer agent consisting of a glycoprotein consisting essentially of xylose in cultivated mycelia belonging to basidiomycetes, e.g. SHIITAKE mushroom, cultivated in a specific culture medium. CONSTITUTION:An anticancer agent, consisting of a glycoprotein consisting essentially of xylose, and obtained from cultivated mycelia belonging to basidiomycetes, e.g. SHIITAKE mushroom, cultivated in a solid culture medium rich in the xylose component. Pleurotus ostreatus Quel., Flammalina velutipes Sing., Lyophyllum aggregatum and Pholiota nameko, in addition to the SHIITAKE mushroom may be cited as the basidiomycetes. A mixture of 90% pulverized bagasse with 5% rice bran, 5% nutriment, e.g. bran, is used as the solid culture medium. The bagasse is easily available at a low cost. |
