<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the switching of processes as well as raise the working efficiency by the procedure in which a rotary disk is partially dipped in waste water to perform nitrification and then the disk is all dipped in the waste water to perform denitrification. CONSTITUTION:Waste water to be treated in first supplied to the reaction tank 11, where 40 to 50% of the disk 13 provided inside the tank 11 is dipped in the waste water and nitrification treatment is performed by means of aerobic nitrifying bacteria as a biological membrane adhered to and growing on the surface of the disk 13 to oxidize NH4<+> present in waste water to NO2<-> and NO3-. And, denitrification is performed by dipping the whole of the disk 13 into waste water by means of denitrifying bacteria as facultative an aerobe adhered to the disk 13, in which BOD components present in waste water are used as nutritive source for denitrifying bacteria and a little methanol is added through the alcohol injection tube 17. Thus, NO2<-> and NO3<-> present in the waste water are reduced to N2 gas.</p> |
