The moulded body has at least one fibrous sheet of coconut, cotton or jute, which is coated or impregnated with heat-curable polyester resin and then compression-moulded, during which process the application of pressure and heat applied is adjusted so as to produce voids in the interior of the said body when in the final moulded, impregnated and cured state, the polyester resin (14) being a chemically blown synthetic resin.
