PURPOSE:To generate ultrasonic beam with area adapted to a specimen and provide required opening condition corresponding to material of the specimen, by a method wherein area of the ultrasonic beam is controlled electronically using a probe having divided vibrators. CONSTITUTION:A vibrator selecting circuit 3 operates divided vibrators 104 selectively. A drive delay circuit 4 for shifting the drive timing of selected vibrators and/or a receiving signal delay circuit 5 for adding the selected receiving signals in time shifting and forming representative receiving signals are installed. A control unit 11 transfers data of area, direction and focusing region of the ultrasonic beam corresponding to material and shape of a specimen into a beam control circuit 6. Ultrasonic transmission drives selected vibrators 104 and provides the time shifting thereto by the drive delay circuit 4. Signal received by each vibrator is selected by the vibrator selecting circuit 3, and receiving signals 301B are delayed and added by the receiving signal delay circuit 5 according to control signal 111 from the control unit 11, thereby receiving signal 120 is obtained and entered in a wave form memory 7. An image address generator 9 generates image address 91 corresponding to position signal regarding region designated in a circuit 10, and the address is displayed (15). |
