PURPOSE:To effectively burn unburned portion of fuel by preventing the lowering of the temperature of waste gas and also preventing the contact of combustion gas containing unburned fuel to the furnace wall by a method in which an inert gas such as waste gas, etc., is flowed toward the surface of the furnace wall so as to cover the surface of the furnace wall with the inert gas. CONSTITUTION:To direct upwards waste gas G along the rear wall 4b, the waste gas G is jetted against the descending flow 20 so as to give it a jet force enough to overcome the descending flow 20. The amount of waste gas to be supplied is set to 30% or more of the whole amount of combustion air supplied and its jetting force is also set to about 15m/sec. By this, the formation of the descending flow 20 is eliminated, and the waste gas G jetted goes up along the rear wall and covers the rear wall and part of the adjacent wall to form a seal layer. Thus, since the direct contact of long flame and combustion waste gas with the water-cooled wall 4b can be prevented by the seal layer of the waste gas G, and also the abrupt drop of the waste gas temperature can be prevented, the unburned portion of fuel can be completely burned. |
