PURPOSE:To minimize voltage drop, which is caused during the time when a current is collected from an active material, by using a negative electrode plate prepared by packing a grid made of a synthetic resin with an active material in which short fibers of lead or a lead alloy are dispersed. CONSTITUTION:In an active material which is packed into a grid-like grid 3 made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin, 5% to 20% of short fibers made of lead (pure lead) or a lead alloy such as lead-antimony, lead-calcium or lead- tin are dispersed. The above active material is packed into the cut part 4a of a lag 4 as well. Vertical small bones 3b and lateral small bones 3c are arranged in zig-zag form, and active materials contained in the measures 3d of the grid 3 are made continuous with each other. The weight of such a negative electrode plate can be made smaller than the one which is prepared by use of a grid made of lead by 5-15%. Besides, since the grid 3 is made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin, which is less expensive than lead, time required for formation of the grid 3 is shortened, and the dimensional accuracy of the grid 3 is increased. |
