The steel contains max. 0.06% C; 2-4% Si; 0.005-0.2% Sb; max 0.1% Se and/or S; and 0.003-0.1% Mo. The steel is hot rolled into sheet; normalised; and then cold rolled with intermediate anneals (IA) to final thickness. The cooling speed after the last IA, and before final cold rolling, is at least 5 deg.C/second, esp. min. 10 deg.C/second, in the range 900 to 500 deg.C. The cold rolled sheet is next given a prim. recrystallisation anneal (RA) which also removes carbon; and then a final anneal (FA) causing sec. recrystallisation with a general plane 110 and specific plane 001 orientation. The pref. steel contains 0.10-0.05% Mo. Used to obtain sheet with a magnetic induction, B(10) of min. 1.93 tesla; and a watts loss, W(17/50) of max. 1.1 W/kg. |
