FIXED BED GASOGENE A gasogene comprising a treatment chamber, means for moving the materials to be treated horizontally into the chamber towards the forward end thereof, an exit for the gas produced by the gasogene, means for recycling gases having passed through the materials contained in the gasogene and means for producing hot combustion gases connected to said recycling means and to air or oxygen feeding means. The recycling means comprise sucking means for setting up a forced stream of gases through the materials to be treated and recycling gases having a temperature preferably above 500.degree.C, and the hot combustion gases are produced at the forward end of the gasogene in front of the natural talus created by the materials contained in the gasogene, whereby the speed of treatment is increased and the materials to be treated are subjected to the hot combustion gases on the whole section of the treatment chamber.
