TRICHLOROPHLOROGLUCINOL TRIPROPYLETHER, TRICHLOROPHLOROGLUCINOL TRIISOPROPYLETHER, THEIR PREPARATION AND HYDROLYSIS TO TRICHLOROPHLOROGLYCINOL

Two novel compounds, trichlorophloroglucinol tripropylether and trichlorophloroglucinol triisopropylether are disclosed, as well as the process for their preparation and for their hydrolysis to form trichlorophloroglucinol. A process for their preparation comprises reacting hexachlorobenzene with sodium propylate or sodium isopropylate, in a molar ratio of about 1:3 to about 1:20, respectively, in an aprotic solvent, at a temperature from about 50 to about 250.degree.C. The process for the preparation of the trichlorophloroglucinol comprises hydrolizing trichlorophloroglucinol tripropylether or trichlorophloroglucinol triisopropylether to form trichlorophloroglucinol.
