PURPOSE:To form a 1.3/1.55mum double window single mode optical fiber which has superior stress resistance by specifying the specific refractive index difference and cutoff wavelength. CONSTITUTION:In general, the light loss of an element wire depends greatly upon the specific refractive index difference and when the 1.3/1.5mum double window single mode optical fiber is manufactured, the specific refractive index difference needs to be reduced as much as possible without spoiling stress resistance specification. Here, the specific refractive index difference is set to 0.45+ or -0.03% and the cutoff wavelength is set to 1.3+ or -0.05mu. Consequently, an increase in loss accompanying cable manufacture, wiring, etc., is reduced and a long-distance transmission line having superior stability is constituted. |
