PURPOSE:To provide a polyester compsn. having a high rate of crystallization and producing molded products with high impact strength, prepared by adding a specified glycol dibenzoate. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. is prepared by adding 0.1-15wt% 2-methyl-1,3-propylene glycol dibenzoate, 0-40wt% filler (e.g. boron nitride) and 0-60wt% reinforcing fibre (e.g. glass fibre) to polyethylene terephthalate which has an intrinsic viscosity of about 0.4 or higher (measured in o-chlorophenol at 25 deg.C) and may contain other comonomers in about 20% or less. Said dibenzoate is readily synthesized by interaction of benzoic acid (ester) and 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol. |
