The invention relates to a computer type electronic photoflash. It includes a computer type main photoflash unit having at least a discharge capacitor, a discharge tube operative to produce a light flash through discharge of electrical charges stored in the capacitor and components for controlling the photoflash light volume of the discharge tube. A plurality of adapters are connectable to the main photoflash unit and capable of being mounted to different versions of photographic cameras using different systems for interconnecting a photoflash unit with the camera. Each of the adapters has an electric circuit for conveying electrical signals between it and the associated camera. Finally, there is included a photometric circuit. The photometric circuit is operative when the light received by a photoelectric light receiving element has attained a predetermined value to actuate the components for controlling the photoflash light volume of the discharge tube.
