PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance easily, by extracting a licorice with water, etc., bringing the resultant aqueous solution of the extract into contact with the OH type of a specific ion exchange resin, eluting the component adsorbed in the resin with a specified solvent, and collecting the eluted component from an eluate. CONSTITUTION:A licorice root or a pulverized root thereof is extracted with water (or hot water may be used) or a hydrous alcohol, etc. In the process, the alcohol is removed from the extract with the hydrous alcohol. The resultant extract is then adjusted to 5-10pH, and then brought into contact with the OH type of a porous weakly basic anion exchange resin having the phenolic parent body, e.g. ''Duolite A-2 '', and the resin is washed with water. The adsorbed component is then eluted with a solvent, e.g. an alkalinized hydrous lower alcohol or hydrous lower alkyl ketone, and the resultant eluate is concentrated and dried to give the aimed antiulcer active component. The obtained fraction contains only 1-2% glycyrrhizin. |
