PURPOSE:To easily set the position of read start by providing a light source control circuit controlling a light source device for information of start position for reading an image on an original, driving the light source device to inradiate the image original in aligning the reader section with the read start position. CONSTITUTION:A light source control circuit 20 outputs a light source signal 19 when a keyboard signal 2 outputted by a keyboard 1 is a signal indicated by a cursor moving key in a document editing device provided with image reading functions such as a Japanese word processor. In reading the image original 31, the light source device 21 radiates the image original 31 to convert the light information of the image original 31 into an electric signal and radiates the original 31 when the user depresses a cursor key to move the reader section 30 when the reader section 30 is aligned with the read start position. Thus, the user recognizes the start position for the reader section 30 to read the image original 31 actually and the operability is improved.
