A reinforced railroad track sleeper 20 is produced based on this invention by casting and using crushed lignocellulose material or wood pulp on a jointless beam 24 around a number of reinforcement elements 26, 28 of wood, which have relatively pure and straight grain, high brake-strength and a high modulus of elasticity and which can withstand a high compression level without crushing. The reinforcement elements are placed in the sleeper or the crossbeam close to the line for maximal extension strain which can be expected to be generated in the sleeper by different bending impacts caused by passing trains and varying conditions during the underlying ballast 42. The elements 26, 28 are also placed in the sleeper to prevent people from being hit by the nails that are used to attach the rail of the track to the sleeper. |
