<p>A method and apparatus of connecting the ends of a strap of thermoplastic material wrapped about a package comprising, winding a strip from a supply about a package, separating the strap from the supply to define two ends and a free end connected to the supply, positioning the ends in overlapping relation, interposing the said free end between the overlapping ends, applying a pressure force to the two ends and a relative tractive force longitudinally to the free end to create heat until the free end is removed and the two ends are fused to one another.</p> |
