摘要 PURPOSE:To facilitate phase retrieval and deflection volume regulation by seizing all of the ink particles by a method wherein an additional set of deflection electrodes are arranged across a charge detection electrode and a deflection electrode and an ink particle seizing member is provided on the recording paper side. CONSTITUTION:Non-charge ink particles go straight ahead and collide with a collision plate 21a of a gutter 21, whereas charged ink particles are upwardly deflected in the electric field between deflection electrodes 131, 132, before being made to collide with a charge detection electrode 24 or passed through the opening of the electrode. At this time, if a predetermined deflecting voltage is applied to a second set of deflecting electrodes 421, 422, all of the charge ink particles are deflected to the left and the ink particles that have passed through the opening will collide with the gutter 21c. Accordingly, at the time of phase retrieval and deflection adjustment, the predetermined deflecting voltage is applied to the electrodes 421, 422 so as to seize all of the ink particles in the gutter 21c. In addition, both the electrodes 421, 422 are grounded at the time of printing recording and not subjected to deflection in order not to seize the charge ink particles.
