PURPOSE:The titled carbon material for forming sooty carbon between it and a steel plate under annealing condition for steel plate, preventing the occurrence of pickup, comprising a carbonaceous carbon material having a given particle diameter, porosity, and degree of graphite. CONSTITUTION:The titled material comprising a carbonaceous material having an average particle diameter of <=10mum, a porosity of 5-15%, and a degree of graphite of <=0.4, containing <=0.1wt% Fe. The hearth roll using the material is used under annealing condition for steel plate of high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere containing N2 and a very small amount of H2O. In the operation, no pickup occurrs in the steel plate and sooty carbon is formed on the roll face. |
