A fastening element for motor vehicle roof-racks for skis and luggage has a trapezoidal main body (1) with a foot piece (3) for fastening via a screw-fastenable connecting piece (5) to the gutter of the motor vehicle and two upper hook-shaped parts (9) for fastening, by means of a screw bolt which passes through them, to a rod-shaped profile section (15) of the roof-rack. In order to make the fastening element shorter and to facilitate assembly, the hook-shaped parts (9) engage into a groove (13) in the profile section (15) and the screw bolt extends beneath the profile section (15). <IMAGE>
