PURPOSE:To effectively execute stirring of molten metal at the non-solidified part in a mold by arranging magnetic flux shielding material at the position between copper-made mold and electromagnetic coil surrounding the mold and executing electromagnetic stirring by using the commercial cycle power source. CONSTITUTION:The electromagnetic stirring apparatus is assembled with the main pars of copper tube (copper-made mold) 1 having higher electric resistance than conventional copper and outside casing (iron core) 2. In the outside of the copper tube 1, jacket 6 is arranged as passage of cooling water. In the recess part of inner circumferential part of the outside casing 2, the electromagnetic coil 3 is arranged, and the magnetic flux shielding material 4 is arranged at the position between the copper tube 1 and the electromagnetic coil 3. The magnetic flux shielding material 4 is freely rotated through hinge 5 and by adjusting the rotating angle of it, magnetic flux density (strength of magnetic force to the molten metal flow) is freely selected and the electromagnetic stirring is executed. In this way, the strength of the molten metal stirring is adjusted and the mold with electromagnetic coil is minimized. |
