PURPOSE:To grasp distinctly the meaning of a word and a sentence with an image on a picture, by displaying a corresponding picture together with the word and the sentence. CONSTITUTION:A key input part 1 is operated to input an English word. A controlling part 2 outputs data for the English word to a character generator 6 and drives a search circuit 5 to search the English word. When the English word is searched, the start address is read out from this data to address a picture ROM4. As the result, picture generating data is read out successively from the ROM4 and is transferred to a display RAM7. The character generator 6 converts data from the controlling part 2 and outputs a character code of the English word and gives it to the RAM7. As the result, the English word and its picture are displayed on a display part 9. When an interpretation key is operated, a character code of an interpreted word is outputted from the generator 6, and the interpreted word and its picture are displayed. |
