In a branched lead strand, in particular in a cable harness for motor vehicles, a multiplicity of individual branches is combined to form limbs and furthermore to form a main strand which runs within an envelope over the length of at least the limbs and of the trunk, suitable conductors being connected in each case in groups in the region of their introduction into the higher-level lead strand, limb or trunk to a main individual conductor. In order to reduce the production cost and to avoid any risk of fracture or tearing of individual conductors, and in order to permit repairs or the replacement of individual lead strands or the connection of additional lead strands it is proposed that the ends of a group of conductors and of a main individual conductor, which are to be connected to one another, are led out in the region of the introduction of the conductors in each case from the higher-level strand and are connected to one another in a parallel position, in the same direction, outside the higher-level strand.
