PURPOSE:To efficiently execute sort at a high speed, by combining an input data set, work data set, output data set, with a sort processor. CONSTITUTION:A read process reads a record if space for reading the record exists in a main storage area 6, delivers the record to a merge process, and delivers control to the representative record process if no space exists. In case when no space exists in the main storage area 6, a block B1 is constituted by collecting plural records R1, R2 and R3 in the main storage area 6, and the block B1 is written to a work data set 7. In this case, the strongest one in the block B1 is left as a representative record, in the main storage. |
