An internal combustion engine, in particular for motor vehicles, is provided with a noise-insulation sheathing, the noise-insulation sheathing comprising an oil pan which essentially surrounds the cylinder block and is connected to the cylinder block by vibration-damping elements. To reduce the sound radiation of the internal combustion engine, the vibration-damping elements which connect the oil pan to the cylinder block comprise vibration-damping elements with a fixing function and vibration-damping elements with a sealing function. <IMAGE>
