PURPOSE:To keep the surface of a bar code for reading clean, by installing a water absorbing member which keep said surface of a reading window clean. CONSTITUTION:A motor 15 is driven to run a belt conveyer 15, and commodities 8 are taken out from a basket on a front table 6 one by one and put on a carrying section. When a commodity 8 passes over a reading section 11, the bar code of the commodity is read. The commodity 8 is carried under the same condition until it reaches a receiving saucer 14. When various bar codes are read in the course of bar code reading opration, water adhering to the commodities 8 adheres to the outer surface of the reading window. The water is absorbed by cleaner rollers 9 and 10 which always in contact with a belt 13 and has a water absorbing function. |
