The invention relates to plasma metallurgy. The furnace contains a casing (1) and the plasma burners (2) arranged symmetrically therein in relation to its vertical axis. In particular, the furnace contains three such burners (2), each of which has a housing (2a) with a nozzle (2b) and an axial duct (2c) for the supply of the plasma-forming gas as well as, arranged in this duct (2c), a round-rod electrode (4) which is connected to a three-phase current source (3). According to the invention, the distance between the central points of the working end faces of the electrodes (4) of adjacent burners (2) is no more than 15 diameters of the electrode (4). The invention can be used in the manufacture of furnaces with ceramic lining, lining furnaces, furnaces with a water-cooled crystalliser and the like, which are intended for melting and remelting and for the heating and the melting-off of metals. <IMAGE>
