A seaming/inseaming tape for joining sheet material or separating previously adhered joining tape from sheet material comprises a strip of backing material (12) having at least one strip of metal foil (14) fastened thereto, as by stitching (16), the material foil being of a thickness that an electric current passed therethrough causes heating of the metal foil (14) to heat soften adhesive on a joining tape. In joining together abutting edges of sheet material the edges are overlapped with a joining tape which has a heat softenable adhesive thereof. A strip of metal foil (14) removably located beneath the joining tape is heated by electric current to melt the adhesive. After cooling, the metal foil strip (14) is recovered for re-use. In separating joining tape from sheet material to which it has been previously adhered, a metal foil strip (14) is located in contact with the joining tape and electrically heated to soften the adhesive whereafter the joining tape is stripped from the sheet material and the metal foil strip is re-usable. |
