The computer-controlled system testing device (RAPE) contains a central test controller (ZPST) and at least two peripheral control areas (PP0, PP1) which may be part of the central test controller, where at least one peripheral area (PPO) and associated subscriber-side and/or connection device-side simulations (TN, ANB, SNR, VE, EP) of the peripheral devices and connection devices under test are provided and where the simulations are connected via a test switching network (PK) to the corresponding inputs for connection to the test points of the system under test (PRÜ) and where at least one peripheral area (PP1) has access via a maintenance connection (W1) to the central controller (ZST) of the telephone system under test (PRÜ).
